Save the Life of the Opponent Goalkeeper, Togo Striker Wins FIFA Award
Togo striker Francis Kone was awarded the FIFA Fair Play award on Monday (23/10/2017). The award was obtained after Kone saved the life of the opponent goalkeeper in the Czech League in February 2017.
At that time, Kone was with the Slovacko club and played against Bohemians. Bohemians goalkeeper, Martin Berkovec, collided with his teammate.
Berkovec was sprawled and unconscious. Kone immediately gave first aid for Berkovec’s tongue not to be swallowed. If swallowed, the airflow will be hampered and Berkovec’s life is not saved.
“I can not help but notice that someone can not breathe like that and do nothing, I can not I do not even think twice about acting,” Kone told FIFA.com.
According to the striker who now strengthens FC club Zbrojovka Brno, his action to save the lives of players on the pitch has been done four times. Twice he did it in Africa and once in Thailand.
